      NATURALIZATION RECEPTION
          A GREAT SUCCESS

Another first is credited to the WBAI
On February 9th it sponsored the first
reception honoring new U. S. citizens
 following the naturalization ceremonies.
99 new citizens were greeted by officers
and members of WBA in the Lawyers'
Lounge in the New Courthouse where
 coffee and sandwiches were served.

The reception had the enthusiastic sup-
port of Chief Justice Stevens of the
Court of Appeals and of Chief Judge Laws
 of the District Court.

       New Citizens Appreciative

Many of the new citizens expressed de-
light at having received special invita-
tions and at being so honored on such an
important occasion in their lives. One
of the many letters of thanks which our
President has received summed up the
 appreciation of the new Americans:

I want to thank you and your organ-
ization and all those who gave us
    that wonderful reception for your
keen interest in all of us. It cer-
tainly means a lot to new citizens
    to realize how warmheartedly they
are received, not only by their
friends and relatives, but by an
organization such as yours, and it
certainly adds to our pride. It
was a wonderful day and I will
remember it as long as I live.

      Receptions to Continue

Representatives of various civic groups
present expressed their intention of
sponsoring future reoeptiohs, which
will also be under the continuing
sponsorship of WBA.

        LEGAL SOORITIES SPONSOR
        NATURALIZATION RECEPTION
Kappa Beta Pi and Phi Delta Delta Legal
Sororities will sponsor the next recep-
tion in the Lawyers' Lounge in the New
Courthouse on March 9, 11 to 1:00 p.m.
It is hoped that all members of WBA will

second party as successful as the first.

        HOOVER TASK FORCE ASKS HELP
           OF WBA MEMBERS
Mr. Henry M. Shine, representative of the
the Task Force on Legal Services and
Procedure 6f the Hoover Commission has
asked Joan Murphy, our President, for
the cooperation of the WBA in the work
of the Task Force. Mr. Shine had been
particularly impressed with Joan's state-
ment before the Administrative Law
Section that so many of our members are
engaged in the practice of law in govern-
ment departments and he feels that the
long experience of these members would
be of great help to the Task Force.
