                      AMENDED MINUTES OF THE
WOMEN'S BAR ASSOCIATION FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
                    BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
                          March 18, 1997

The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:30 p.m.
by President Nancy Long. Those present were Julie Heflin, Mary
Kate Whalen, Saundra Brown, Cory Amron, Juliana O'Reilly, Vicky
McEneney, Martha McQuade, Ellen Berick, Nancy Long, Loretta
Garcia and Executive Director Lora Pollari Welbes.

I. MINUTES (Saundra Brown)

The minutes of the February 18, 1997, meeting were approved
as amended.

II. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE\ACTION (Nancy Long)

The Executive Committee approved the budget for the
Environmental Law Forum's April 9, 1997, program.

The Executive Endorsements Committee requested that the
Board modify the policy for Executive Endorsements to allow
receipt of written letters of reference in lieu of Committee
members obtaining references by telephone call. Members of the
Board were contacted, prior to the March 18, 1997 Board Meeting,
and the Board voted not to adopt the requested modification.

III. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT (Lora Pollari Welbes)

Lora reported that 56 applications for membership had been
received. The Board voted to approve membership for all 56
applicants.

Lora also reported that the Partners Dinner had been

dinner, not just appetizers, will be served.

Lora is seeking feedback on the WBA Webpage, especially for
the interactive sites.

Lora also reported that NCNB had advised her that the WBA's
lease, which expires on June 30, 1997, will not be renewed. Lora
asked for help to get referrals for only one real estate broker,
rather than having numerous brokers contact her. She also
