                        Minutes of the
      Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia

                  BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
                  Tuesday, February 18, 1997


     The meeting of the Board of Directors was called to
order at approximately 6:40 p.m. Those in attendance were
Nancy Long, Julie Heflin, Cory Amron, Sue Swiatek, Pat
Apfelbaum, Vicky McEneney, Ellen Berick (via telephone),
Lora Pollari (Executive Director).

I. APRROVAL OF MINUTES

     The minutes of the January 21, 1997, Board of Directors
meeting were approved as amended.

II. REPORT OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ACTION

     There was no Executive Committee Action for the period.

III. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT

     There were thirty-seven applicants for membership.

     0 The Board approved 37 new members.

     Lora Pollari reported that letters will be going out to
     new admittees to the D.C. Bar every six months. Lora
     will also be attending a reception for new admittees.
     The WBA will be hosting a reception for law students
     next week.

     There were three excellent programs last week -
     Careers in Health Law, Networking for Career and
     Client Development, and the breakfast program with
     women members of the D.C. City Council.

     Jeannette Perez has resigned to accept a position with
     the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.

     Sarah Schriber has been offered a temporary position
     focusing on the Annual Meeting and will begin on
     Thursday, working four days per week.
