                       EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT
                               MAY 19, 1998

I. MEMBERSHIP
Please refer to handouts and attached Membership Report for the current
      membership update.

HI. NEWSLETTER
The next Newsletter deadline, for the Summer 1998 issue, is June 11 th.

III. ANNUAL DINNER
The staff is busy tying up loose ends and reconciling the Annual Dinner.

IV. WBA REQUEST FOR PROGRAM FUNDING
On Wednesday, May 20', I will forward a draft of the WBA Request for Program
Funding to Cynthia Goode and Saundra Brown for their review. I am waiting for
one more piece of data and the request will be complete. The Foundation needs
to receive this request prior to May 31 so they can issue a check to us in this fiscal
      year.

V. WEBSITE
Brenda, from Desyne (our current website manager), has indicated that her
company could train the staff to update the website from our office. This would
give us more control over the site and save us money each time we needed to
update it. This is a project for the summer.

VI. COMMITTEE AND FORUM CHAIRS RECOGNITION LUNCHEON
The Committee and Forum Chairs Recognition Luncheon will be held on
Wednesday, May 27 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.
Invitations went out last week. Please RSVP by Friday, May 22nd.

VI. STAFFING ISSUES
Kate Timlin resigned on May 5, 1998 to pursue other interests. I think it would
be valuable to consider revamping this position. The current structuring of
responsibilities and salary does not appear to encourage anyone to stay past one
year. In light of current membership numbers, I think it would be beneficial to
the Association to have some continuity in this position. A more seasoned
Membership Coordinator could be more pro-active in developing membership
recruitment initiatives and membership retention programs.

VII. BOARD OF DIRECTORS RETREAT/COMMITTEE AND FORUM CHAIRS RETREAT
Just a reminder - the Board of Directors Retreat will be held on Thursday, June
      25' , from 4 - 9 p.m. at McKenna & Cuneo. The Committee and Forum Chairs
Retreat will be held on Saturday, June 27, from 9 - 3 p.m. at McKenna & Cuneo.
