Re: Notice of meeting and report about recent developments

This report will bring you up to date about Foundation activities since our several
meetings in the late Spring and notify you of our next Board Meeting, which I have
scheduled for September 15, 1982 at 6:30 pm. at my office, 1730 Rhode Island Avenue,
N.W., Suite 1215.

I recently received a letter from Marguerite Rawalt announcing with regret her
decision to resign from the Board. Marguerite expressed her conflicting demands and
heavy schedule as reasons for her resignaton, and I know we all miss her comments
and support for our efforts.

At our next Board Meeting we shall take nominations for a member to serve
the remainder of Marguerite's term (until 1984), and elect her replacement.

Our Nominating Committee, Brooksley Born, Pat Bailey and Florence King, have
nominated Sara Ann Detterman, Patricia Gurne, Congresswoman Margaret M. Heckler
and Margery Waxman for 1982-1985 Board terms; each has agreed to serve. I have
asked Liz Medaglia to have the Association Board hold a special meeting to elect our
Board so that we may have a newly constituted Board at our September 15, 1982
meeting. If our new Board is elected in time, we may have time to take nominations
for officers so that our new officers for the 1982-1983 term might also be elected at
the September 15, 1982 meeting. If this timing breaks down, nominations probably will
be presented and the election of new Board members held September 21, 1982 at the
next regularly scheduled meeting of the Association Board. The nomination of Foundation
officers and their election would follow in due course thereafter.

Jane Golden's report of our financial status as of May 31, 1982 will be presented
to Cory Amron for audit and will be available at our next meeting.

You will be pleased to know that we have made application for directors' and
officers' liability insurance; that we have received our bulk rate mail permit; and that
requests from contributors for reminders about donations have been sufficient for the
Bar Office administrative staff to begin regularly sending reminders about their
commitment to those who have made pledges.
