                           WOMEN'S BAR ASSOCIATION
                         OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

                         BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

                                  September 7, 2005

                                      MINUTES

In attendance at the meeting were President Karen Lockwood, Secretary Jennifer Maree,
Executive Director Nancy Long, Bonnie Pinzel, Rebecca McNeill, Amy Bess, Barbara Burr, and
Mary Legg.

The minutes of the July 22, 2005 and the August 2, 2005 were approved unanimously on
motion made by Ms. Pinzel and seconded by Ms. McNeill.

Ms. Lockwood discussed the departure of Angela Fisher Jaffee from the Board of
Directors and discussed options for her replacement. President Lockwood suggested the Board
wait to finalize Ms. Fisher Jaffee's resignation and communicate any suggestions for her
replacement to her.

Mary Legg moved to approve the new members, which was unanimously adopted by the
Board.

Nancy Long informed the Board that Board of Directors meeting minutes from 1969 to
1989 have not been found in records at the current WBA office. Nancy is trying to locate them
by contacting past WBA presidents.

Nancy Long suggested we get bids for marketing materials for the WBA. She presented
some ideas to the Board for the format, content and style of the materials. Nancy Long, Mary
Legg and Barbara Burr volunteered to undertake formulating a logo for the WBA to use on all
future materials. Nancy suggested that we create a membership form in time to distribute at the
2005 Star of the Bar event.

The Board discussed the membership database and the status of updating the database.
President Lockwood presented the option of creating a separate file and start putting all new
membership information into the new file. The second option is to wait until we have the
website up and running, and use it to automatically update the existing database.

Nancy presented the Treasurer's Report, in the absence of Ms. Kerrigan. The WBAF
received five different grant requests, three of which were from the WBA, which included
requests for publication of the RTB, a block grant request for programming, and for the 2005
Star of the Bar. The WBAF pays the WBA quarterly its share of administrative expenses.
