AALS Transmittal Memo [i]

handle is hein.nccusl/nccpub01101 and id is 1 raw text is: Draft e mail to AALS Family and Juvenile list serve and ADR list serve.
Dear Colleagues:
I hope everyone had a wonderful summer.
I have been designated the Reporter for the National Conference of Commissioners on
Uniform State Laws effort to create a Uniform Collaborative Law Act (UCLA).
A Drafting Committee has been appointed, and had a lengthy meeting in April.
Background research materials on Collaborative Law where created for that meeting.
I prepared a first draft of the Act with commentary for review at the next meeting of the
Drafting Committee, which will be held on October 5th and 6th in Boise, Idaho.
The purpose of this e mail is to encourage you to review and comment on the Act. I am
posting it on both the AALS Family and Juvenile Law Section and ADR Section list
serves because of the cross over interest in the subject. Please feel free to share this e mail
with anyone else you think might be interested in UCLA.
My students and I have created a website for the Act. Its address is law.hofstra.edu/ucla.
You will be able to find and download the draft of the UCLA and the background
research materials there if you wish. You can also post comments on the Act on the
website. You can also contact me directly and I will share your comments with the
Drafting Committee.
It is very important to note that the Act is a preliminary stage of development. The
Drafting Committee has not yet reviewed it. Those of you who read it will find many
Notes to the Drafting Committee which I hope help identify key policy issues on which
you might want to comment. Comments received before the Drafting Committee meeting
on October 5th and 6th would be especially helpful.
Please contact me with questions, comments and concerns and thank you for your help. I
look forward to hearing from you.
