CRIMINAL FINE IMPROVEMENTS ACT OF 1987
P.L. 100-185 101 Stat. 1279
December 11, 1987
NOTE
H.R. 3483, the Criminal Fine Improvements
Act of 1987, was introduced in the House on
October 14, 1987 and passed by the House on
October 27. On October 27, S. 1822 was
introduced in the Senate containing provisions
for the Sentencing Act of 1987 (Title I) and
the Criminal Fine Improvements Act of 1987
(Title II). S. 1822 passed the Senate on
October 28. On October 30 the Senate amended
and passed H.R. 3483 by inserting language
similar to S. 1822, thus making H.R. 3483 a
two-titled bill containing provisions for the
Sentencing Act and the Criminal Fine
Improvements Act. On November 16, the House
amended and passed S. 1822 by deleting the
Criminal Fine Improvements provisions (Title
II), and further amended H.R. 3483 by deleting
the Sentencing Act provisions (Title I). Thus
H.R. 3483 only contained provisions for the
Criminal Fine Improvements Act of 1987 and was
enacted as P.L. 100-185, and S. 1822 only
contained provisions for the Sentencing Act of
1987 and was enacted as P.L. 100-182.
