 LETTER FROM THE CHAIR:

I've spent the past two months contacting many of you, asking you to
either chair LISP Committees or to assist the Chairs. I would like to
thank the people who have agreed to be chairs for the following
committees: Mary Wilder, University of Denver, Newsletter; Sharon
 Blackburn, Texas Tech University, 1991 Program; Kathy Garner, Liaison;
Eileen Cohen, Membership; Howard Polonsky, Western New England College,
and Joan Allen-Hart, University of San Diego, co-chairs of the Video
Subcommittee; and Barbara Golden, Minnesota State Law Library who
agreed to take over the sections Clearinghouse collection.

Please volunteer for a committee by either calling me or contacting
one of these chairs directly. It's a great way to get involved in the
 business of our section.

Several exciting projects are planned for 1989-90 and we need volunteers
to make them a success. Most of these projects will not require your
full-time attention, but concentrated effort for short periods of time.

We have submitted three program proposals to headquarters which we
hope will be approved for the meeting in Minneapolis. Once approved,
we will need members to contact speakers, to volunteer to be
moderators, and to help flesh out ideas for program content. Since
time is short in preparing these programs, I may need to call on several
of you for assistance, if I don't hear from you first.

Three of the publications in our Clearinghouse collection that receive
widespread use need updating. The Clearinghouse Bibliography. our Public
Services Procedural Guide: Start-Up Project Guide for AALL Chapters, and
Self-Help Law: A Sampler have not been revised for some time. Updating
this information might be the springboard for a full length scholarly
article that one of you will publish later.
