FROM THE PRESIDENT

Reavis McGrath
While most of you were on vacation
this summer, the new LLAGNY Board was
hard at work planning and developing the
1989-90 LLAGNY agenda.
The theme that surfaced again and
again was the need to improve the image of
the law librarian and that of LLAGNY. To that

end, with all of your help, I would like to con-
centrate on working towards these goals.
With the help of Joan Cartafalsa, our
new Editor-in-Chief at Law Lines, this issue is
the beginning of a new more professional
looking Law Lines. We hope that the new
look and the more substantive content will
entice more of you to become involved in Law
Lines, LLAGNY's avenue of communication
to the Legal community.
      The Placement Newsletter which LLA-
GNY began publishing in May has become
an extremely valuable tool in placing law
librarians. Thanks to all of your comments,
LLAGNY will be sending the Placement
Newsletter to all LLAGNY members beginning
in September. Even those of you who
are not actively seeking a change of employ-
ment will be able to have a better sense of the
employment opportunities available to you.
Jean O'Grady, the Chair of the Public
Relations Committee, recently submitted two
public relations brochures, which are directed
toward librarians and attorneys. The board is
currently proofreading them and we plan to
have them published by the end of the year.
LLAGNY has just signed a contract
with ABA/NET to set up a LLAGNY database
which will include the most recent issue of
Law Lines, the Placement Newsletter, the
Directory, and an on-line bulletin board. At
September's downtown and uptown lunch-
eons we will provide you with more detailed
information.
During the upcoming year we will be
aggressively seeking more advertising in our
publications. As our publications improve
                      (continued on p. 4.)
