What's your story?
February 5, 2019 was declared Maryland Library Day by both the Maryland
House of Delegates and Senate, an event that takes place every February
during the legislative session. It is a full day for all Maryland librarians that
begins with a breakfast provided by the Law Library Association of Maryland
in my library. Librarians visit their legislators with packets of information
about Maryland libraries including school, public, academic, and, of course,
our favorite, law libraries. We were able to include brochures about our local
law libraries and our statewide Conference of Maryland Court Law Library Di-
rectors. (The Maryland library community is very connected as evidenced by
the make-up of the Maryland Library Association Legislative Panel that in-
cludes representatives from all types of libraries.)

choosing Education, Employment, Entrepreneurship, Engagement, and Every-
one as their E's, illustrating each with a story.

Barbera gave the Maryland State of the Judiciary address to the legislature,
which included personal stories illustrating the work of Maryland's Veterans
and Drug Courts that were quite compelling.

resented litigants, and students. We know what we do but we need to illus-

a government law library. How can we do this? The GLL-SIS Publicity and Pub-
lic Relations Committee is here to help. They will be collecting our stories to
inspire us all and, also, allow us to share with the world how government law
libraries make a difference. Space will be made on the GLL-SlS website for
the collected stories.
What might a law library story look like? Mary Jo Lazun, fellow Maryland court
law librarian and GLL-SlS Technology Committee chair, has some great sto-
ries containing that personal element. The stories demonstrate the impact of
