Chair's Message
As I begin to write this column, I wonder if the
other SIS Chairs are as pleased as I am to report on their
section's activities and projects. I cannot help but feel
that this is going to be a very good year for our SIS, let
me tell you why.
Seattle...one last look
First, the year is off to a good start as a result of
an excellent anniversary celebration as part of the
Seattle annual meeting. It was a very nice affair that
was certainly enjoyed by all, especially, as I am told, by
our invited guests and founders who attended. Listening
to them describe their pioneering activities and watching
them interact with the current generation of SCCLLers,
I was moved by the fact that their spirits are alive and
evident in the many accomplishments of our members
both within and outside of AALL. For those of you who
were unable to attend, take my word for it.we are part
of a group that has roots upon which we have continued
to build AALL's strongest SIS. Many thanks to all who
were able to participate in the celebration.
The 20 year Anniversary Pins are great! Look
for them pinned proudly on Paul Fu, Pam Gregory,
Marsha Koslov and Laura Pershing next year in
Pittsburgh. Also, after sending copies of our
commemorative booklet, buttons and photographs to
AALL Archives, I have a few of them left in case
anyone wants to send me a note.
Funds
Another reason why this is going to be a good

year is the state of our Treasury. We are in the best
financial shape ever which means we have the ability to
consider undertaking some special projects. More on
this later.
Education
Deb Norwood and Sue Roach are hard at work
on the educational programs for next year. Deb has
already outlined the Sunday morning SIS program and
Sue has submitted several proposals for both the
National Conference on Legal Issues and the regular
AALL program.
