Presenting PLL Perpectives
Sabrina I. Pacifici, Editor

You hold in your hands the charter issue of
PLL Perspectives. You may have missed the
profile of our newsletter in People Weekly or
on Entertainment Tonight, so I will now en-
lighten you regarding its content. Perusing
the pages of this fledgling issue, you will find a
number of articles on a variety of programs
from the AALL Annual Meeting in Reno. Also
included are columns on library promotion,
computer technology, and news of upcoming
educational programs and events. Well, quit
applauding, and send me articles! Seriously,
the best way to show your support and enthu-
siasm is to contribute articles to upcoming
issues. Without your efforts, the newsletter
will be devoid of all content. PLL Perspectives
exists to serve as a national forum for the
exchange of ideas, concerns and professional
expertise among our members. Please become
involved in making this newsletter a valuable
information resource for our membership.
I have only just begun to scratch the sur-
face of the world that is desktop publishing, so
this issue represents a starting point. I am
producing the newsletter using WordPerfect
5.0, Aldus Pagemaker, and an HP Laser Jet II.
A Scan Man hand scanner and Paint Show
Plus software were used for transferring
graphics into the newsletter. If you are famil-
iar with these programs, or are involved with
desktop publishing, I would greatly appreciate
hearing from you. If you come across any
interesting copyright free graphics, please
send them on to me. I would like to develop a
file of them for use in future issues. The
content and style of the newsletter will neces-
sarily evolve over time as more private law li-

brarians contribute their perspectives on
pertinent issues.
My address, telephone and fax numbers
are on the back cover, so please call, write, or
fax me with your ideas and contributions.
Interesting topics which lend themselves to
discussion in an article include: personnel
management and evaluation; space planning
and library relocations; new computer applica-
tions for the library; teaching legal research
methods; and research in specialized areas of
law. An interest has been expressed in a col-
umn on tips for answering that impossible
reference question, sort of a reference ques-
tion of the month. If you have encountered
any such questions lately, please take a mo-
ment to write a description of the question
and answer, and forward it to me with your
name, firm, address, and telephone number.
As I know you can hardly wait to begin
reading, I'd like to briefly take the opportunity
to thank all those who contributed articles for
what will no doubt become a collector's item.
Thanks also go to Immediate Past Chairman
Susanne Gehringer, and to current Chairman,
Pat Strougal, for all their support. Special
thanks must also go to Lynn Kerr, Jeff Bosh,
Wyman Colona and John Mathews of my
library staff. Now, Go! READ! ENJOY!
