Message From The Chair
Darcy Kirk
TURN THE HEAT ON. It was HOT in Pittsburgh! The temperatures were hot, the programs
were hot and Reader Services SIS was hot! Indeed, it was very hot in Pittsburgh which made
traveling to the Convention Center even more difficult for those who were not staying at the
Doubletree (like me). But we persevered and it was worth it. I attended many of the Reader
Services-sponsored programs at the Annual Meeting and I was pleased to see that they were
well-attended. They were also very good. Thanks go to those of you who helped with the
programs (coordinators, moderators and speakers) - Doug Lind, Peggy McDermott, Meg Collins,
Nancy Armstrong, Randy Diamond and Elizabeth LeDoux. And since the meeting in'Pittsburgh,
several members of Reader Services have been heated up over writing or soliciting proposals
for next year's meeting in Indianapolis. Look for a report of our program proposals for next
summer later in this issue. Thanks go to Doug Lind, Program Committee Chair and Duane
Strojny, Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect for getting those programs ready and into Headquarters on time.
It is always hard for me to believe that we have to come home from one meeting and begin
planning for the next!
In This Issue: I am very excited to be the new Chair of
