Even though   the annual
me.ting was several months ago,
I do want to acknowledge the
fine job   Pat Court did    in
organizing the time and the
committees. Pat made a special
effort to find a time that
would not conflict with other
SIS   meetings  with   similar
membership  and  I think the
turnout is testimony to her
success.
The   discussion   groups
after   the    meeting    were
especially informative. Betsy
McKenzie was responsible for a
good idea on that score.    We
learned   and   shared    some
valuable information about the
way other schools set up the
use and training of Lexis and

The    committee     for
gathering  informa tion  about
materials available to visually
impaired attorneys is finally
getting started. The president
of the American Blind Lawyers
Association, Stephen Speicher,
lives here in Lincoln and so
that makes it less complicated
for us to communicate and plan.
Mr. Speicher's goal is to have
the ABLA be considered as an
available resource of making
law    library     materials
accessible to visually impaired
attorneys. He has enlisted our
help as a network to gather
information  about   what  is
available.
The project is starting
with a set of resource cards
that were compiled about legal
materials in Braille and on
tape available about 10 years
ago. He is working on updating
those files while we will be
searching   for   groups  and
projects that are already in
progress doing this work.
