The founding editor of Women & Criminal Justice, Dr. Clarice Feinman, is committed to promot- ing social justice for women and changing sex role stereotypes. Feinman recently said that starting the journal was not too dramatic; she received a call from our founding press (Haworth Press) and accepted the challenge to launch the journal. Feinman's launch of the peer-reviewed academic jour- nal took tremendous courage and a strong strength of vision. The journal began with two issues per year and soon became the leading venue for feminist criminologists to publish original quantitative and qualitative scholarship. Her own scholarship has resulted in many peer-reviewed articles and several noteworthy books, including Criminal Justice Politics and Women (Routledge, 1985), The Criminalization of a Woman's Body (Routledge, 1992), and Women in the Criminal Justice System Dr. Clarice Feinman Color versions of one or more of the photographs in the article can be found online at www.tandfonline.com/wwcj.
