EDITORIAL

Women & Criminal Justice aims to provide a single forum in
which members of the academic community and representatives of
governmental and private institutions and agencies throughout the
world can explore and exchange information on the myriad issues
associated with women and criminal justice from an interdiscipli-
nary perspective. To meet this goal, an outstanding Editorial Board,
international in scope and representative of all the aforementioned
sectors, has been assembled in order to select research, review, and
practitioner-focused articles which deal with such issues as cross-
national and cross-cultural research and practice, women terrorists,
dispute resolution and women, health care for incarcerated women
(AIDS, pregnancy, mental health, etc.), juveniles and criminal jus-
tice, abortion and Roe v. Wade, violence against women, women in
criminal justice professions, women as writers of crime fiction,
women as victims and criminals in literature, television and film,
and feminist theory.
Readers will find that the articles contain the language usage,
spelling, and manuscript style common to the nationality and disci-
pline of the authors. In this first issue, Ngaire Naffine writes about
female juveniles in Australia and compares Australian and United
States policies with regard to status offenders. Susan Martin
