               EDITORIAL






   Probably no one would  disagree that computers have changed  our
world. They have and probably will continue to change the world of po-
lice negotiators. Whether it is the bad guy using them against us while
we  are negotiating or the negotiator charting the progress of the team
during negotiations, the technological implications and possibilities are
there and will continue to expand.
   Over the past few years, I have begun to notice more and more Web
sites either directly related to crisis negotiations or to other areas of infor-
mation that might be useful to the negotiator in the field. This informa-
tion may be helpful in preparing for an incident, also during negotiations,
and even post-incident. I suggest these to you in addition to the plethora
of books, some better than others, being written in the field. The other
problem is that the Web sites of interest seem to fade from the scene al-
most as fast as they appear. Those mentioned here were live at the time
of this writing. I am sure that others will spring to life as we go forward.
Look  for them.
