                        EDITORIAL

The Journal of Police Crisis Negotiations is dedicated to law en-
forcement hostage and crisis negotiators who labor daily in this field.
The Journal invites those who have a contribution to this field to
participate by submitting practical, field oriented manuscripts for con-
sideration of publication. Those from academia, those who are con-
ducting relevant research, and those who approach hostage and crisis
negotiations from an applied perspective will find a home and an
outlet here. Those involved in the discipline of Crisis Intervention and
Management, and Suicidology are also invited to submit manuscripts.
This issue of the Journal is a special one. Although the Journal has
been published in some form and under various names for several
years, it is now in its permanent home with The Haworth Press, Inc.
This is the first issue in our new home, and I know that all of those
who have worked diligently in support of the Journal are especially
pleased. The Journal can only survive if those in the field and those
studying the field will share their work with others who are so in-
volved. If you have something of value to say, please submit your
work for consideration. Our Journal is a peer-reviewed professional
publication. Information for authors is available from the editorial
office or from The Haworth Press, Inc. and is also printed in the back
of the Journal.
This issue covers the waterfront of Hostage and Crisis Negotiations.
Some basic research is presented by Dr. Feldmann in our lead article.
