  W.  P. Lynde  and H.  M.  Finch  are in
Madison.
  The  Hailan  Brothers will open at the
Academy  next Monday in A Swiss Voyage.
  The  body of a man apparently about 35
years of age, was recovered from the river
yesterday.

  Harry  Williams Manchester  & Jennings'
Variety Company  will hold the boards at the
Academy  this evening.
  The  committee of the Milwaukee Curling
Club  have raised $io,ooo, and Milwaukee
will now have a rink.

  Property holders on Grand avenue, between
Eleventh  and Fifteenth streets, object to
having the roadway narrowed at that point.

  The annual Lession of the Ladies'Missionary
Society of the northwest will be held in the
parlors of the Grand avenue Congregational
Church to-day. *

  A. A.  Roberts, Milwaukee agent for the
Blue Line, yesterday left for Green. Bay, to
take charge of theMilwaukee &  Northern's
agency in that city.

  Dr. Enoch  Chase  &  Son have sold the
Chase glass works property to the Wisconsin


   A farewell banquet was last evening tein-
dered Andrew  J. McCormick, who  recently
resigned the position of assistant general
freight agent of the Chicago, Milwaukee &
St. Paul road, to accept a lucrative position
in Illinois. During the evening Mr. McCor-
mick was presented with a one thousand dol.
lar bill from his late co-workers.

WAUKEE   COUNTY-ss.
  In the matter of the estate of Ferdinand
Kochand, deceased.
  On this 25th day of September, A. D. 1883,
upon reading and filing the petition of Mary
Kochand, stating that Ferdinand Kochand, of'
the County of Milwaukee, died intestate on or
about the 31st day of August, 1883, and praying
that she, the said Mary Kochand, be appointed
administratrix of the estate of said deceased.
It is ordered, that said application be heard be-
fore this court at a regular term thereof, to be
held at the Probate Office, in the City of Milwau-
kee, on the first Tuesday of November, A. D.1888,
at 10 o'clock A. M.
  And it is further ordered, that notice of said
application and hearing be given by publishing
a copy of this order for three successive weeks,
once in each week, in the Wisconsin Legal
News, a newspaper printed in said city, prior
to said hearing.

  Caroline Manegold, plaintiff, against Mary
Duwe, widow  of John Duwe, deceased, James
Smith, administrator of John Dnwe, deceased,
and John Duwe, Mary Duwe, Elizabeth Duwe,
Augusta Duwe, Lena  Duwe and Clara Duwe,
children and heirs-at-law of John Duwe, de-
ceased, defendants.
  Judgment of foreclosure and sale:
  By virtue of and pursuant to a judgment of
said court in the above entitled action, which
was rendered and dated on the 10th day of July,
1882, 1 shall expose for sale, and sell at public
auction, in the hall of thecourthouse, near the
south door thereof, in the Seventh ward of the
City of Milwaukee, on Saturday, the 29th day
of September. A. D. 1883, at the hour of 2 o'clock
in the afternoon of that day, the following des-
cribed mortgaged premises, or so much thereof
as may be sufficient to raise the amount due to
the plaintiff, for principal, interest and costs,
together with the expenses of sale, to-wit: Sit-
uated in the County of Milwaukee, S ate of Wis-
consin, Ito-wit: that part of the south one-half
(8. ,4) of the north-west quarter (N. W. ) o
section number twenty-seven (27), Town six (6)
Range twenty-one (21) east, bounded by a line A
beginning at the quarter post in the west line of
said section, and running thence north on sec-
tion line eight (8) chains and twenty-seven (27)
links; thence east forty (40) chains to the quarter
section line; thence along said quarter section
line south eight (8) chains and twenty-seven (27)
links to center quarter post, and thence west on
quarter line forty (40) chains to the place of be-
ginning, containing thirty-three and 8-100
(83 8-100) acres of land.
