              EDITORIAL

The purpose of the Journal of Ethnicity in Criminal Justice is
two-fold. It provides the opportunity for criminal justice professionals
and practitioners in the field to address the issues of ethnicity, crime,
and criminal justice and the reader with current and emerging issues in
the field.
The term ethnicity applies to group of individuals whose identity is
distinctive in terms of common cultural traditions or heritage. Conse-
quently, articles for this journal will include not only those on racial
groups but also on groups of people who share a common culture as
well.
I am delighted and honored to have been selected to serve as Editor of
this journal and will do my best to maintain a standard of excellence.
This journal is designed to disseminate significant and scholarly crimi-
nological and criminal justice research on ethnic/racial groups. It will
consist of articles that reflect a wide range of substantive interests, theo-
retical applications and orientations, and methodological analyses. In
addition to publishing full-length articles, I welcome Research Notes,
Book Reviews, and Review Essays which cover multiple works by the
same author or two or more books on the same subject. Also, I am hop-
ing that the journal will serve the international criminal justice commu-
nity as well. I would, therefore, like to encourage manuscripts from
scholars from all parts of the world.
