Robert W. Clark Nominated 1991-92 SONREEL Chair
Chair-Elect Designee John S. Lowe


Robert W. Clark is a partner
with Sutherland, Asbill &
Brennan in Washington, D.C.
He specializes in the economic
regulation of the oil and
gas industry with particular
emphasis on oil and natural
gas pipelines; and antitrust
litigation is another area of his
practice. He has appeared
before the U.S. Department of
Energy and the FERC in
connection with oil and nat-
ural gas transportation in
Alaska, LNG imports, Cana-
dian-U.S. energy trade, and domestic pipeline certificate
and producer pricing matters. Bob has been a member of
the Section Council and has chaired various committees
of the Section, including chair of the Annual Meeting Pro-
gram Committee. Bob received a B.A. from Brown University
and his law degree from the University of Chicago Law
School. His wife, Toni K. Allen, is also an active member of
the Section.

John S. Lowe holds the
George W. Hutchison Chair
of Energy Law at Southern
Methodist University in Dal-
las, Texas, where he teaches
oil and gas law and oil and
gas contracts. A graduate of
Harvard Law School and
Denison University and a mem-
ber of the bars of Texas, Okla-
homa, and Ohio, Professor
Lowe is author of Oil and
Gas Law in a Nutshell (2nd ed.
West 1988), one of the editors
of Cases and Materials on
Oil and Gas Law (West 1986), and the maintenance editor
for West's multi-volume treatise, Summers on Oil and
Gas Law. Professor Lowe has served SONREEL as managing
editor of the Monograph Series, assistant editor of Natural
Resources & Environment, member of the Council, and


vice chair. In addition, he is a trustee and former member
of the Executive Committee of the Rocky Mountain Mineral
Law Foundation, a member of the Advisory Board of the
International Oil and Gas Educational Center of the
Southwestern Legal Foundation, one of the editors of the
Oil and Gas Reporter, and a frequent continuing education
speaker, expert witness, arbitrator and legal consultant.
Nominee for Vice-Chair
Frank Erisman is a partner
with Holme Roberts & Owen
in Denver, Colorado. His
practice is concentrated in the
mining area where he has
experience working with
numerous types of minerals,                    ;
including oil and gas, steam
and metallurgical coal, copper,
precious minerals, clay, in-
dustrial minerals and ura-
nium. His practice has also
involved extensive work in
mineral property acquisitions,
the bank financing of mineral
projects, federal land exchanges and other public land
issues, and Alaskan Native Corporation land issues.
