China's Intellectual Property Regime and Direct Foreign
Investment
Direct Foreign Investment in China has increased since the
1970s. Given the enormous amount of DFI, the issue of protect-
ing the intellectual property rights of foreign investors and tech-
nology suppliers is of considerable importance. The author argues
that, whilst the intellectual property legal framework has been
improved, serious efforts have to be made to enforce the intel-
lectual property laws and regulations.

How to Determine whether Trade Unions are Representa-
tive
In the Netherlands, employers' and employees' organisations play
an important role. The SEC is a main advisory board for the
government. In this council there are only a few seats for trade
unions, therefore there has to be determined which organisations
can be given a seat in this council and how many seats can be
given to each organisation. The author gives criteria for represen-
tativeness and discusses the validity of these criteria.
