In order to sort out the shift and keep up with the current scene, we interviewed senior marketing and sales representatives from Carswell, Quicklaw and Lexis- Nexis. Each filled us in on their plans for future development. The same four questions were asked of all, with additional questions were tailored to the specific vendor. Carswell's new Internet-based research services were the focus of an interview with Betty Hutchins, Vice- President of Marketing and Customer Care. Since this interview took place in September the launch of the product discussed in this article will have already happened! Nonetheless, the interview provides a good overview of how eCarswell works with existing Carswell products and compares to other online services. TALL: What changes or new features can we expect from you in the near future? Carswell: As you know, we are gearing up for the launch of eCarswell, our new Internet-based legal information research service. Family.pro, insolvency.pro, and security.pro, will be launched in October, with law.pro, our case law based research system, to follow November 1. Our products will be demonstrated at breakfast seminars in October, and previews will be available by the end of October-you can sign up online for a 60 day trial period. TALL: What makes your service unique when compared to other services currently available? What can you offer that other vendors do not? Carswell: Carswell remains committed to providing legal practitioners with value-added, authoritative, timely, and accurate products. The main differentiating features of eCarswell include: Depth of Coverage: Law.pro, for example will include the entire archive of Carswell's case law dating back over 130 years, complete coverage of the last 13 years of reported decisions, and the last three years of unreported decisions.
