                       T.A.L.L. LAUNCHES NEWSLETTER ***


     As approved by the Membership at the Business Meeting on April 2, 1981,
an Association newsletter comes into existence with this issue. The
purpose of.the newsletter is to keep you informed of membership news and
Association activities in an informal way. We welcome news of.staff
changes, conferences or workshops attended, bibliographical problems
encountered, book exchange lists and any current awareness information.
Please forward this information to Judy Smith, Librarian, Blake, Cassels.&
Graydon.  Frequency of the newsletter is to be monthly, provided sufficient
material is received to warrant publication.

     For those of you who are new members, a bit of background information
on the Association may be in order. Beginning as an informal downtowners
group, we became more formalized in November, 1979, when the following was
adopted as the purpose of the Association:

This will be accomplished by
to:


          (a)  inform members of new developments;
          (b) promote co-operation between various types of
               libraries interested in law;
          (c) speak for the Toronto Area Law Librarians
              when necessary;
          (d) organize continuing education programmes.

     The Association is open to anyone with an interest in law and/or
librarianship.
