Dean of Wyoming Joins Consultant's Office

yllabus is pleased to announce
that, after a long search, the
Section officers have appointed
a Deputy Consultant on Legal Educa-
tion and Admissions to the Bar to the
American Bar Association. The
Deputy Consultant, Dean Arthur R.
Gaudio, is a distinguished legal edu-
cator and the immediate past dean of
the University of Wyoming School of
Law. Dean Gaudio joined the Consul-
tant's Office in July of 1996. He will
also serve as a visiting professor of
law at the Indiana University School
of Law- Indianapolis. Dean Gaudio
will teach property law.
Dean Gaudio graduated from the
Syracuse University College of Law
in 1967, magna cum laude. He also
served as the Editor-in-Chief of the
Syracuse Law Review. Following

graduation from Syracuse University
College of Law, Dean Gaudio prac-
ticed law for five years in New York
City, specializing in real estate law
and taxation. Subsequent to his
years practicing law, Dean Gaudio
was a Professor of Law at Drake
University Law School, and the
Wake Forest University School of
Law and a visiting professor at the
Syracuse University College of Law
and the Marshall Wythe School of
Law. Finally, Dean Gaudio became
the Dean at the University of
Wyoming College of Law in 1990.
Dean Gaudio has been very active
in national legal education circles;
he has been a member of several
committees for the ABA's Section
on Legal Education and Admissions
to the Bar. 0

Simon & Schuster Agrees to Publish and
Distribute the Standard 509 Publication

n January 23, 1997, the Ameri-
can Bar Association and
Simon & Schuster finalized
negotiations between the two par-
ties over the details of publishing
and distributing the Standard 509
publication. Simon & Schuster,
headquartered in New York City, is
one of the largest publishers in the
world. The agreement requires
Simon & Schuster to publish in the
spring 1997 the first edition of the
Standard 509 publication that is
entitled ABA Approved Law
Schools: Statistical Information on
American Bar Association

Approved Law Schools. Pursuant to
Standard 509 and Department of
Education requirements, the book
will contain a wealth of information
on law schools including admission
data, tuition, fees, living costs,
financial aid, refunds, enrollment
data, graduation rates, composition
and number of faculty and adminis-
trators, curricular offerings, library
resources, physical facilities, place-
ment rates, and bar passage data.
The book will be used as an edu-
cational resource by law schools,
prospective students, parents, place-
ment/guidance personnel, hiring

attorneys, and all others interested
in objective data supplied by the
schools as part of the accreditation
process. The book will be 464 pages
and cost around $19.95, (plus ship-
ping and handling, if not bought in a
retail establishment) The book will
be available in all major bookstores
in the United States. In addition, the
book will also be available through
the ABA Service Center. Although
the book will not be published until
the spring, the Service Center is cur-
rently accepting orders. The ABA
