      Legal Writing Institute
      Elects Board of Directors


      The Legal Writing  Institute
became official this fall when the
Institute  was incorporated as a
non-profit  corporation.    As   a
corporation, the Institute's first
order of business was to elect a
fifteen-member Board of Directors.

A call for nominations was made in
October  1986;  fifty-four  people
were  nominated.     In  November,
ballots were sent to all people on
the Institute mailing list as of
November 7, 1986.    Members were
given the opportunity to vote for
fifteen   candidates;  the   eight
candidates  receiving the highest
number of votes would be elected to
four-year  terms, and   the  seven
candidates receiving the next
highest number of votes would be
elected to two-year terms.

The votes have now been counted.
The following people were
elected to four-year terms,


which begin on January 1, 1987:

     Ralph Brill
     IIT, Chicago-Kent
     College of Law

     Susan Brody
     The John Marshall School
     of Law

     Anne Enquist
     University of Puget Sound
     School of Law

     George Gopen
     Duke University

     Laurel Currie Oates
     University of Puget Sound
     School of Law

     Teresa Phelps
     University of Notre Dame
     Law School
