CCH SEC Docket Delivery Speed
CCH's goal is to deliver SEC docket material to our subscribers as quickly as
possible. Several factors affect how old documents are when subscribers receive
them and whether subscribers receive a report in a given week.
The most significant factor is the date that the SEC's Office of the Secretary
makes a week's worth of docket material available to the public in a batch. In years
previous, the SEC provided the public a batch of material weekly. The documents
in that weekly batch typically were dated about four weeks prior to the SEC making
them available to the public in a batch in release number order. However, in the
past year, the SEC's collation of this material for the public has become more
irregular and the date on which the SEC makes a week's worth of material available
to the public had become increasingly delayed. More recently, the SEC has
significantly reduced the backlog of this material.
As of July 1, 2004, the SEC has been making batches of SEC Docket material
available to the public that are about four weeks old, which is consistent with early
2003 and years previous. Despite the SEC's recent clearing up of the backlog, it is
still possible that the public supply of these documents from the SEC may once
again become irregular or delayed. CCH is closely monitoring the situation. And,
whenever possible, CCH will mail two SEC Docket reports within one week to give
our subscribers the benefit of the SEC's recent backlog reduction.
