2006 SAL Ann. Rev. i (2006)

handle is hein.journals/salar7 and id is 1 raw text is: EDITORIAL NOTE

The Singapore Academy of Law's Annual Review of Singapore Cases is now into
its seventh volume. As with the preceding six volumes, it evaluates the decisions
given by the Singapore courts in the preceding year on principal areas of the law.
The cases discussed in this volume are drawn principally from the Singapore Law
Reports for the year 2006, although relevant cases from other jurisdictions which
impact on the local law are also discussed. To ensure comprehensiveness of the
subject areas covered, unreported decisions decided in the year under review are
also evaluated.
As with the earlier volumes, leading practitioners, government and academic
lawyers contributed to this volume by way of comments, analyses and criticisms
on their respective areas of speciality. Inevitably, the volume does not cover all
aspects of the law. Given its increasing importance, a new chapter on
Biomedical Law and Ethics has been included in this volume which now
comprises 22 chapters.
To ensure consistency in presentation and citation, this volume generally follows
the house-style of the Singapore Law Reports which are also published by the
Singapore Academy of Law.
As with the sixth volume, this volume also contains an index arranged by subject that
lists articles published in Singapore law journals as well as articles relating to
Singapore law that are published in foreign law journals. It is hoped that this will
make it more convenient for those carrying out legal research to access articles on
Singapore law or which are the result of Singapore scholarship.
Thanks are due to The Honourable Attorney-General, Mr Chao Hick Tin,
Chairman of the Publications Committee, Singapore Academy of Law; the
various contributors; the assistant editor, Mr Ranald Or; and Ms Hung Ning
Shing, for making this publication possible.
