Dayo Akindipe PhD Student, Babcock University, Nigeria Email: akindipedayo@gmail.com Tel: 08078629535 Abstract The amendments to the Electoral Act now permit the electronic transmission of results, and the pervasive role of technology in the electoral process in Nigeria cannot be undermined. This development is necessary to eliminate administrative bottlenecks but also ushers new risks that threaten cybersecurity in the electoral process. The doctrinal research methodology was used to analyse applicable legislation on elections in Nigeria. These include but are not limited to the Electoral Act 2022 and other secondary sources, such as manuscripts written by scholars in this area. It is submitted that since the website of the apex regulator of elections in Nigeria, that is, INEC, has been historically hacked, perpetrators may devise a sophisticated approach to hack its website again, considering the significance of the forthcoming presidential elections in Nigeria. It is recommended that a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy that will prevent any infractions through the use of technology to ensure a free and fair election should be implemented.
