Secretariatu[ general, personatu[, sediite, bugetu[ Dr. Marian ENACHE ABSTRACT The European Parliament is a crucial institution for the functioning of the European Union. Being elected by the citizen of all Member States, it is the main depositor of democratic legitimacy at the level of the European Union. Due to its increasing responsibilities and complex tasks, it has to rely on well-functioning administrative services. The article examines the role of the Bureau of the European Parliament and of the General Secretariat in coordinating these administrative services, the configuration of the staff and the status of the employees, the ways the administration of the European Parliament deals with the problem of multiple official seats (Strasbourg, Brussels, Luxembourg), and the procedures for adopting and checking the execution of the Parliament's budget.
