26 Pol. Theory 3 (1998)

handle is hein.journals/ptxa26 and id is 1 raw text is: EDITORIAL NOTE
T he annual meeting of the executive committee of Political Theory was
held during the American Political Science Association Meetings at the end
of August. Every year one member rotates off. This year Nancy Rosenblum
leaves the committee. I join other members of the committee and George
Kateb and Peter Euben in thanking her for her service and advice (and
promptings) over the last six years.
After deliberation, the committee elected to ask Linda Zerilli of Rutgers
University to join the group. I am pleased to say that she has accepted. Most
of you will know her Signifying Woman: Culture and Chaos in Rousseau,
Burke and Mill (Cornell, 1994). I should like to call your attention also to her
work on contemporary French thought as in, for instance, her Signs (fall,
1992) article A Process without Subject, de Beauvoir and Kristeva on
Maternity. We welcome her.
Two University of California, San Diego graduate student editorial assis-
tants work with me on the journal. Each year one of them rotates off. This
year Verity Smith leaves the journal and turns toward the writing of her thesis.
I have greatly valued her sharp and incisive comments over the past two years.
My thanks to her. She will be replaced by Ethan Hollander who is beginning
his graduate work here after having completed an undergraduate degree at
Georgetown and a year of study at the University of Chicago. I look forward
to working with him and to continued work with Mark Golub, who remains
for his second year.
This issue marks the beginning of the second year in the new format of
six-issue volumes. I find that the expanded format allows for more flexibility,
especially in relation to the review essays introduced by Peter Euben. An ear
to the ground tells me that the review essay format has met with positive
reception. I should be interested to have any comments you might have.
Last, as announced, there is now a Political Theory Web site. The address
is http://weber.ucsd.edu/-tstrong/ptheory.html. It includes tables of contents
of present, past, and future issues. Those authors who have agreed to have
their names linked can be accessed directly by clicking on them. There are
also a number of links to other sites relevant to political theory and theorists.
Contributions are welcomed. I am going to place various announcements (of
conferences) there also-a nudge and some text will make that easier.
My best wishes to all of you.
