First, Steven Lukes comes to the end of his six-year term on the Editorial Executive Committee. The readers of Political Theory owe him a strong debt for his contributions to the journal over this time. I will continue to value his counsel. At the annual meeting of the Executive Committee at the American Political Science Convention in September, we voted unanimously to ask Susan Moller Okin to assume the position on the Committee vacated by Luke's departure. I am delighted that she has accepted and look forward to working with her. Professor Okin's two books, Women in Western Political Thought (1979) and Justice, Gender; and the Family (1989), as well as numerous articles have established her distinctive voice in the profession. Professor Okin has this year moved from Brandeis University to Stanford. Here in San Diego, Keith Bybee, one of our graduate Editorial Assistants, has been the recipient of a fellowship that frees him from research or teaching obligations. Alan Houston and I should like to thank him for his contributions and help over the past year. He will be replaced by Ted Miller. Deanna Zachary stays on as Editorial Assistant; thanks are also due to her for her contributions to the journal. Eileen Pappas will unfortunately be leaving the department. She has very capably held down the secretarial and logging side of the journal as well as persistently pursuing those reviewers who were less than alacritous. George Kateb's advice took me over some early bumps, and I am grateful for his help. All readers of Political Theory are in debt to Nancy Rosenblum for the series of well-chosen book reviews and reviewers that appear in each issue. I should finally like to thank Alan Houston for his invaluable advice, counsel, and colleagueship over the past year. Most of what PT has done in that time that is good had his hand in it.
