          1967 ANNUAL MEETING IN HAWAII
   Ilonolulu is the locale for the 1967 Annual Meeting
 of the American Bar Assn. It has been arranged for the
 Ilouse of Delegates, various sections, committees and
 affil iated groups to nicet on days spaced over the period
 July 31 - August 10. By this device, all may have the
 benefit of fine accomnodations in Honolulu, enjoy a
 variety of side trips to the neighboring islands, and
 utilize air or ship space to best advantage.
   The Section will meet Mon. Aug. 7 and Tues. Aug. 8
at  the Princess  Kaiulani Ilotel, with tihe  Section's
Council mecting on Sun. Aug. 6. Tie Princess K. is
located on the threshhold of Waikiki Beach and offers
top facilities.
   (]hairman-l'lect Louis Spector is already hard at
work on the 1967 Annual Meeting program, one which
will top the recent splendid array of Montreal speak-
ers and topics. The 1967 Iederal Bar Assn. Annual
Meetingwill he held in San Francisco, July 26-29 there-
by coinpleting the total picture ,of legal  interest to  be
concentrated in California and Hlawaii over a three-
week period between July 26 and August 10, 1967.
   The ABA has obtained the services of Travel C,o-
sultants Inc., Suite 700, 1612 K  St., N.W., Washington,
).C. 20006 to act as its travel coordination center for
the 1967 trip. Registration is S35 ($25 for lawyers under
37 yrs.) pls a S50 deposit on each Ilonolulu liotel room
requested. A variety of excursions froit the island of
Oahu to the adjoining islands of Kauai, laui, and Ila-
wail are also available to us.
   Full information can be obtained by writing Travel
(onsultants Inc-. The impolrtant point is to act now and
register early, in order that ABA can make appropriate
arrangements for group airline fares from the mainland
and aiccommodations plus entertainment on the Islands.




         DEC. 15 - DEADLINE OF NEXT ISSUE

   There will be four issues in Vol. 2 of the expanded
Public Contract Law Newsletter, with the good lielp of
the menbership of the Section. Iet the l'ditor know your

        PHILADELPHIA SYMPOSIUM - NOV. 21

    The ABA Public Contract Section, jointly with the
  PhiladelIph ia Bar Assn. and FBA, will sponsor a Sym-
  posium at the Marriott Motel, City Iine Ave. in Phila-
  delphia, Mon. Nov. 21, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Chairman James M. Marsh advises that the progran
 will be of interest to both contractor and Government
 personnel, being designed to show how to avoid prob-
 lems in such key areas as cost and pricing data, inspec-
 tion and acceptance; procedure under the Changes'
 Article; contractor's rights and risks under the new
 Suspension of Work Clause; proper handling of
 disputes of both the Contracting Officer and Board lev-
 el, subcontractors' problenms and remedies. Iouis
 Spector, ASBCA Cliairman and Chlairman-Elect of the
 Section, will be the luncheon speaker.
    'ou are urged to attend this interesting day-long
 proggram,t lie first sponsored b) the Section in Region
 3. The cost is only S10 ii person.

    ABA APPROVES SECTION RECOMMENDATION

    The initial recommendat ions of the Public Contract
 Section on proposed revisions of Clauses 23A and 19 of
 the Standard Form(detailed in Vol. 1, No. 3 of Newsh, t-
 ter) were approved by the ABA Ilouse oif l)elegales in
 Montreal in Aug. 1966. '[he current status of the revi-
 sions of these clauses, proposed b) the Govt. Inter-
 agency Working (;roup, is that ABA and ither comments
 or recomimendations have been referred to the v'arious
 agencies. Jpon receipt of agency comments, (;SA will
 make an) necessary adjulstments in the proposed clauses
 which appear warranted and then make the changes
 effect ive.
    An overall study (If these fornis, recomnended byT
  the Section and approved by the ABA, must await these
  steps, according to GSA Deputy General Counsel
  (;asque.
