Ann ual Meeting Ilghlights


    The last issue of Probate and Property
contained a detailed schedule of Section events,
both social and professional, at the forthcoming
Annual Meeting in August. A summary of such
events along with application for tickets to them
should also be in the hands of Section members
as enclosures to the Chairman's May 29, 1973
letter to all Section members. The following
summary recaps and highlights the Washington
program:
             Professional Programs
           Probate & Trust Division
    Monday, August 6, 1:30 P.M.: Joint pro-
gram with the Section of Taxation on Conse-
quences of powers under wills and trusts,
dealing with income, estate and gift tax and
property law aspects of various powers exercisa-
ble by trustees, advisors, beneficiaries, and other
persons.
    Tuesday, August 7, 9:30 A.M.: Continua-
tion of program on Consequences of powers
under wills and trusts.
    Tuesday, August 7, 9:00 A.M.: Joint pro-
gram with the Section of International Law
entitled Proposed treaties on international es-
tate administration: their effect on estate plan-
ning and probate practice.
            Real Property Division
    Monday, August 6, 1:30 P.M.: Joint pro-
gram with the Section of Local Government
Law: a portion of a mock condemnation trial
in which the issue is The increase or decrease in
value of property prior to valuation caused by
public improvement.
    Tuesday, August 7, 2:00 P.M.: Program on
 Regulation of land use  local, state, and fed-


eral  a discussion of current developments in
the three different levels of land use control
with particular emphasis on the trend away from
strictly local land use control to programs which
are state, regional, and federal in nature.

                Both Divisions
    Tuesday, August 7, 12:00 noon: Joint
luncheon with Section of International Law
featuring the Honorable William J. Casey, Under
Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, U. S.
Department of State.
    Wednesday, August 8, 9:00 A.M.: Annual
Section business meeting and election of officers
and council members.
    Wednesday, August 8, 9:35 A.M.: Real pro-
perty, probate and trust potpourri.
               Social Programs
    Monday, August 6, 6:00 P.M.: Buffet din-
ner for Section members, their families and
guests which will be held at Gunston Hall, the
home of George Mason, in Fairfax County,
Virginia with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres served
in the gardens, with a buffet dinner served under
a marquee.
    Wednesday, August 8, 12:20 P.M.: Section
 cocktail buffet.
 Section members are urged to request such
 tickets as are needed for these events promptly.
    Special thanks are due from all of us to the
 District of Columbia Section Annual Meeting
 Chairman, John Eris Powell, for his Gunston
 Hall arrangements. He has been of great assist-
 ance also in connection with other Annual
 Meeting arrangements.
