The Division held its 1997 National Awards reception on August 1, 1997 at the Union Square Holiday Inn, San Francisco. The winner of the Hodson Award for Public Service was the Domestic Abuse Service Center (DASC) of the Hennepin County Minnesota Attorney's Office. Patricia Moses, Senior Attorney, and Lolita Ulloa, Director, accepted the award on behalf of DASC. The winner of the Nelson Award for Outstanding Service to the ABA was the ABA's Task Force on Government Lawyer Participation Daniel Goyette, winner of the Dorsey Award. in the ABA. The members are Chair General E. E. Anderson; Neil R. Eisner; Ky P. Ewing, Jr.; Karen Hastie Williams; Otto J. Het'el; and Margaret Colgate Love. This year there were two winners of the Dorsey Award for an Outstanding Public Defender or Legal Aid Lawyer: Daniel T. Goyette, Executive Director, Louisville-Jefferson County Public Defender Corp., and Archibald Murray, Chair of the Board of The Legal Aid Society of the City of New York.
