            Proceedings of

THE SECOND ANNUAL INSTITUTE
        ON OIL AND GAS LAW
 AND TAXATION AS IT AFFECTS
   THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY

Important present-day problems of the Oil and
Gas Industry discussed by a distinguished group
of lawyers who are acknowledged authorities on
specific phases of oil and gas law and taxation as
it affects the oil and gas industry.
These articles form the basis for the several lec-
tures delivered during the three-day session of
the Second Annual Institute on Oil and Gas Law
presented by the Southwestern Legal Foundation
in co-operation with the SMU School of Law, and
held at the Legal Center Auditorium, Dallas,
Texas, January 18 through 20, 1951. The articles
printed here have been expanded beyond their
original lecture form and enjoy the advantage of
footnote citations and other helpful addenda.
As issues of Tax Law or other matters of policy
are frequently controversial, readers of the Sec-
ond Annual Institute Proceedings are reminded
that the views expressed herein represent those of
each individual author and are not necessarily the
views of the Southwestern Legal Foundation or
   the publisher.
