Abstract
The purpose of this research is to highlight the importance of training for employment
and the development of human capital potential. Using data from the Ministry of Public
Education (SEP) and the National Institute of Geography and Statistics of Mexico
(INEGI) related to training, as well as variables such as the rate of labor informality and
average education in the states, it is possible to notice a significant growth in this area.
The research methods are qualitative as it analyzes the existing theory, and quantitative
as regards the analysis and interpretation of the data. The importance of training in
formal employment, self-employment and entrepreneurship itself is concluded.
However, investment in human capital also requires investment in physical capital and
infrastructure in order to achieve the goals of economic development. Therefore, it is
strategic that individuals, organizations and governments promote the formation of
human capital, without neglecting the other priorities of the national agenda.
Key words: training, labor productivity, human capital, economic development.
