It provides the general characteristics of formation and development of the Republic of Poland. It is emphasized that Poland is the earliest explorer of the European constitutionalism. Since 1791 in the constitu- tional history of Poland were approved the nine constitutional documents. In ad- dition, consideration is given to such historical constitutions as the Constitution of May 3, 1791, the Grodno Constitution of November 23, 1793, the Lower Con- stitution of February 20, 1919, the March Constitution of 1921, the Constitution of 1935, the Constitution of the Peoples' Republic of Poland of 1952, the Constitu- tion of 1976, the present Constitution of 1997. ' Niniejszy artykul powstal w ramach programu badawczego ,,POLSKA-UZBEKI- STAN: KONSTYTUCJE I PRAWA CZLOWIEKA. Jest to miedzynarodowy program ba- daA statutowych realizowany przez Instytut Nauk Politycznych UW wsp6lnie z Narodo- wym Centrum Republiki Uzbekistan ds. Praw Czlowieka. Jego realizacje zainicjowano 12 paidziernika 2012 roku organizacjq Okrqglego Stolu na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim z udzialem delegacji Uzbekistanu na temat: Konstytucja i prawa czlowieka w Uzbekista- nie. Celem badaA jest opracowanie i publikacja Konstytucji Polskiej Rzeczypospolitej w Uzbekistanie oraz Konstytucji Uzbekistanu w Polsce oraz organizacja periodycznych spotkaA przy Okrqglym Stole i dyskusji na temat roli ustawy zasadniczej w budowie paA- stwa prawa i spoleczerstwa obywatelskiego. Zadaniem Okrqglego Stolu jest tez pr6ba okreslenia uwarunkowaA i stanu zaawansowania budowy spoleczerstwa obywatelskie- go w Uzbekistanie oraz analiza polskich doswiadczeA w danym zakresie. Programem kierujq A. Saidov (Uzbekistan) i T. Bodio (Polska).
