In this first issue of 2017, the Executive Board looks back at yet another productive year of the
Netherlands Quarterly of Human Rights. In 2016, we continued to publish high quality, topical,
and innovative articles on international human rights. We received around 130 manuscripts, of
which we published 12 articles in the Quarterly's four issues. As such, the Quarterly remains a
highly competitive journal with a publication rate of 9 per cent, which enables us to select only the
best articles.
We would like to thank the NQHR's international Editorial Board and other expert reviewers,
who take time and care to critically assess selected manuscripts. In addition, we thank the Utrecht
University Library for the section in each issue detailing new publications on human rights around
the world. We would also like to thank our readers for their continued support, and all of the
authors who submit their work for consideration by the Quarterly. Without this assistance, the
Quarterly would not stand where it does today.
Finally, the Executive Board would like to thank Intersentia, who have published the NQHR for
many years. We have enjoyed collaborating with Intersentia for over a decade and are proud of
what we have achieved together. We now look ahead to our new partnership with SAGE Publishers
from 2017, a well-established international and independent publishing house. This new collabora-
tion will greatly increase the reach of the NQHR, both geographically and in numbers. From this
edition onwards, we look forward to working with SAGE, who share our passion for scholarship
and are committed to the Quarterly's continued success.

On behalf of the Executive Board,
                                                              Antoine Buyse, Editor-in-Chief
                                                              Julie Fraser, Managing Editor
