EDITORIAL
Ring out the old, ring in the new ! We take
up the pen for the last time, so far as the
Chronicle is concerned. It has been a pleasant
task-now, alas, it is done-Et puis, bonsoir !
The Session has seen the transformation of
many Ordinaries into Honoraries, and we offer.
our heartiest congratulations to one and all.
We trust the attendance at debates will im-
prove this Session. Really it is time we
commandeered some of those Law Notes
prizes!
Sir T. Vansittart Bowater, the forthcoming
Lord Mayor of London, is a Lancashire man
who has for many years now resided at West
Ascent, St. Leonards, and may frequently be
seen enjoying the proverbial sunshine of the
town.
He is a well-known figure on thejFront, and
takes a keen interest in many of the social
events. He is President of the Conservative
Club, but otherwise is not interested in local
public life. West Ascent, which he has selected
as a home, is situate immediately at the side
of the Royal Victoria Hotel, which faces the
St. Leonards Pier. It is within a few minutes'
walk of the quaint old Parish Church, and is

almost next door to the entrance to the St.
Leonards Gardens, which are one of the hap-
piest and quietest little retreats to be imagined.
