      Editorial


The New President


Arthur Mildon was educated at Kingswood School, Bath and Wadham College
Oxford. During the war he was commissioned in the Royal Artillery and saw ser-
vice in the Middle East and Italy. He went up to Oxford after the war and grad-
uated in Law. He was president of the University Law Society and of the Liberal
Club and secretary of the Union. He was called to the Bar by the Middle Temple
in 1950 and took silk and became a Recorder in 1971. He was elected a Bencher
of the Middle Temple in 1979 and was appointed a Circuit Judge in 1986. At the
Bar he practised in London and on the western circuit and became head of his
chambers at 2 Crown Office Row. He was involved in several public enquiries
both as an advocate and latterly as a chairman.
  His wife is a sociologist. They have a son and a daughter and 3 grandchildren.
All the family like skiing in winter and sailing in summer and music at all times.
Arthur and Iva Mildon have travelled extensively and have lectured in the United
States and in New Zealand.
