IWORkAL INSTITUTE FOR LaW SCHOOL GRADUATES SPONSORED BY
LEGAL AID CLINIC,. ALUMNI GROUP MEETS
An informal institute for graduates of the Law School, sponsored by
the Legal Aid Clinic, was held on Friday and Saturday, November 14th and
15th.. Dean Horack opened the institute and presided at the first meeting
which was held on lriday afternoon at 3:30, In the absence of Mr, Lowndes,
who was unable to be present, Mr. 3radway read his paper entitled Signifi-
cant Changes in the 1941 Federal Revenue Act. At 4;30 kr. Bradway intro-
duced Mr. Bolich who spoke ih the field of estate planning taking as his
topic Powers of Appointment , Judge Bryson, who was scheduled to present
Mr, Bolich was unable to be present.
On Saturday morning at 9:30 A.M. Mr. Bradway introduced Captain
Charles R, Jonas of the State Selective Service Office who discussed The
Soldiers' and Sailors' Civil Relief Act of 1940.
Immediately after this address., Mr. Bolich, Secretary of the Law
School Alumni Association, called a meeting of that group during which it
was voted to appoint a committee to support the program of the Law School,
by providing prospective students with information about the Law School,
by building up the Library through the donation of books and pamphlets and
by encouraging gifts for the establishment of additional scholarships and
for other desirable purposes.
PRICE CONTROL LEGISLATION TO BE CONSIDERED
AT BAR ASSOCIATION MEETING
A Congressioal Committee hearing concerned with the subject of
price control legislation will be the special feature of the program of
the meeting of the Duke Bar Association to be held in the Court Room on
Tuesday, December 16th at 7:45 P. M. Professors Weldon Welfling, of the
Economics Department, and David F. Cavers of the Law School will play the
roles of experts who have drafted a bill and are prepared to explain its
provisions and the probable effect that it will have upon the problem
involved.
The following members of the Law School student body will serve as
members Of the Congressional Committee: William $..Ault, John B. Brecken-
ridge, Oliver C. Carmichael, James J. 'Doyle, Jackson R. Hambrick# Ed
Kelther, Frederick Nelson, Herman F, Owens, Jr,, Joseph 0. Tally, Jr..,
Charles Tice, and Maurice Winger. Mr* James J. Doyle, President of the
Duke Bar Association will preside.
