 5  Supreme Court Rebuffs Appeal of O'Bannon-
    What   It Means
Last weeks U.S. Supreme Court decision not to hear the appeal
in the O'Bannon v. NCAA case concerning the treatment of
college athletes is another sign the NCAA must abide by federal
antitrust laws when implementing rules about the ability of
athletes to earn compensation, a University at Buffalo School of
Law  expert said recently.

$3,356,250 after considering her wrongful termination claim
against the school.

11  DOE   Levies  Historic Fine Against  Penn  State
    Over  Handling   of Sexual Misconduct Incidents
 The U.S. Department ofEducation has announced that it is
 seeking to impose on Penn State University a record fine of nearly
 $2.4 million for failing to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclo-
 sure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act
 after a comprehensive review prompted by on-campus sex offenses
 involving former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

 12 Labor  Board   Reviews   Northwestern   Student-
    Athlete  Policies
 The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), in a recent
 Advice Memorandum  (NLRB  Case No. 13-CA-157467), has
 effectively ended the closely-watched enforcement action against
 Northwestern University on whether certain intercollegiate
 student-athletes are statutory employees forpurposes of the Na-
 tional Labor Relations Act.
