    Case   Challenging  NCAA Student-Athlete
    Scholarship   Limits
A federal judge from the Northern District of California had de-
nied a motion to dismiss filed by the NCAA and 11 major con-
ferences, which were named in a class-action antitrust lawsuit.

3   Court  Grants  Partial Summary Judgment for
    Gonzaga in   Trademark Infringement Case
A judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern Dis-
trict of Washington has granted partial summary judgment in
favor of Gonzaga University in a claim against Pendleton Enter-
prises, LLC, Pendleton Broadcasting Inc., and Jamie Pendleton,
alleging violations of Section 43(a) of the Lanham Act.

4   Settlement   Reached   Between University
    of Tennessee   Former   Media   Director for
    Women's Athletics
 The former media director for University of Tennessee (UT)
 Women' Athletics has reached a settlement with the university
 and its athletic director, ending a lawsuit in which she alleged
 that the defendants discriminated against her on the basis of her
 age and gender when they fired her in 2012.

 5  Job  Change   Leads   To Breach  of Contract
    Finding  at Kent  State
An  Ohio appeals court has affirmed the ruling ofa lower court,
which found that Kent State Universiy' (KSU) decision to reas-
sign an assistant football coach constituted a breach ofcontract
because KSU had to employ the coach as a defensive coordinator
under the contract.

6   OSU   and  Former  Offensive  Line  Coach   Battle
    over  Contract  Clause
As coaching college coaching contracts have become more sophis-
ticated , it should surprise no one that when Oklahoma State
University (OSU) reached an agreement with Joe Wickline,
whereby the veteran offensive line coach would join head coach
Mike  Gundy staff there was a special clause in the contract that
protected OSU' interest.


7   Legislative  Attempts  to Regulate   Drone
    Surveillance  and  Implications  for Sport
    Managers
Fear ofterrorism and related violence has led sports event orga-
nizers to consider adding drones (unmanned aerial systems) to
their other security measures.

9   Ex-Hoops Player Accuses U of Alabama of
    Title IX Violations
A former female bas-
ketball player at the
Universit ofAlabama
has accused the school
of violating Title IX
because it didn't initially
support a waiver that
would have allowed her
to play this season for
another school, Seton
Hall.

10  SEC   Announces Slive   Will Retire Next  Summer
Mike  Slive will retire as commissioner of the Southeastern Con-
ference (SEC) on July 31, 2015, after serving in that position for
13 years, the SEC has announced. He also stated he is beginning
treatment for a recurrence ofprostate cancer for which he was
treated in the late 1990s.

11  Drake  Group   Issues  Guidelines  for Athletic
    Academic Integrity
 The Drake Group, a national group committed to protecting
 the academic integrity of colleges and universities in residence
 at the University ofNew Haven, issued guidelines this week for
 academic honesty in athletics.
