The trial wound up in only 10 days. 'he jury took a mere 77 minutes to return a verdict of not guilty. What happened? Ehere has been almost universal castigation of the prosecutor, Moira Lasch, and an equal amount of praise for defense attorney Roy Black. Why? What things did they do (or fail to do) that gave this overall impression? This article presents afew observations about the performance aspects of this incredible trial. STYLE The most obvious difference between the two primary lawyers-Roy Black for the defense and Moira Lasch for the state-was in the area of personal style. This is usually the case, for no two advocates are completely alike. But in this trial the differences were stark. How did these differences play out in the presenta- tion, or performance?
