Meeting Grounds for Psychiatry and Law: A Role for the Psychiatric
Resident as Consultant
5 The author examines in detail the role of a psychiatric consultant to
the mental health advocacy service of a mental hospital. The goal of
aiding the patient through the establishment of understanding
between ward psychiatrists and attorneys is explored.
BERNARD S. ARONS, M.D.
Bad or Mad: The Psychiatrist in the Sentencing Process
23 Do judges give much heed to what psychiatrists say or write regarding
sentencing of offenders? Professor Bohmer's research appears to
answer that question in the negative.
CAROL E.R. BOHMER, PH.D.
Hospitalization Experience of Mentally Disturbed and Disruptive,
Incarcerated Offenders
49 The author discusses a study which showed that many disruptive
incarcerated offenders had been hospitalized in mental health
facilities in the past. Since such hospitalization had apparently no
appreciable deterrent effect, the author proposes that correctional
and mental health authorities work together more closely in the
future.
RICHARD H. UHLIG, PH.D.
Recidivism, Crime, and Delinquency: A Psychoanalyst's Perspective
61 Dr. Kaplan presents a comprehensive review of the subject of
recidivism. In doing so he proposes to characterize criminal behavior
as being expressive of what he delineates as the criminal
personality.
EUGENE H. KAPLAN, M.D.
