I. INTRODUCTION
The United States patent system is based upon a quid
pro quo, whereby an inventor is granted a limited monop-
oly in return for disclosing his/her invention to the public.
While a written specification provides sufficient disclosure
for most inventions to satisfy the how to make and use
provisions under 35 U.S.C. 112, certain inventions involving
