SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES.

                  iONDAY,  OCTOBER  12, 1896.



  The court met pursuant to law.
  Present: The Chief Justice, Mr. Justice Field, Mr. Justice Harlan,
Mr. Justice Gray, Mr. Justice Brewer, Mr. Justice Brown, Mr. Justice
Shiras, Mr. Justice White and Mr. Justice Peckham.
  Charles E. Buell, of Madison, Wis.; Silas C. Sweet, of Des Moines,
Jowa; William Henry Dennis, of Washington, D. C., and Simon Lyon,
of Washington, D. C., were admitted to practice.
  The Chief Justice announced that the court would commence the call
of the docket to-morrow, pursuant to the twenty-sixth rule.
  Adjourned until to-morrow at 12 o'clock.
  The day call for Tuesday, October 13, will be as follows: Nos. 2, 3,
4, 5 (and 6 and 7), 8, 9, 10 (and 16), 11 (and 129 and 130), 12, and 14
(and 15).
