    A former California State University, Northridge, director of
    basketball operations acted unethically when he committed
    academic misconduct for and provided impermissible academic
    benefits to a total of 10 men's basketball student-athletes,
    according to a decision issued by a Division I Committee on
    Infractions panel.

3   NLRB   General  Counsel   Calls an Audible  on
    Classifying  Student-Athletes   as Employees
    After recent decisions by the US. Supreme Court and National
    Labor Relations Board (NLRB) declined to address whether
    college athletes are employees of their respective colleges and
    universities, the issue ofpayfor play appeared all but dead in
    the water. hat is, until the NLRB General Counsel issued a
    memorandum  on January 31, 2017 reversing course on the
    NLRB's previous decision in Northwestern University..

    at the NCAA Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.

6   The  Perceived  Effects  of the Academic
    Redshirt  Policy on  NCAA   Division I Power  5
    Conference   Athletic Departments
    he purpose of this study was to research the perceived effects
    of the new Academic Redshirt Policy on NCAA Division I,
    Power 5 conference athletic departments. This policy man-
    dates that all student-athletes enrolling in Division I institu-
    tions after August 1, 2016 who did not meet the minimum 2.3
    GPA, and did not complete 10 of the required 16 core courses
    before their senior year ofhigh school must take an academic
    redshirt year.

    Infractions Ruling  Centers  on  Misapplication
    of Standard
    University ofNotre Dame President (Rev.) John I. Jenkins
    wasted little time letting the world know the school will appeal
    the NCAA Committee on Infractions'decision to vacate 2012
    and 2013 football victories after a former student in the stu-
    dent trainer program wrote papers for student-athletes on the
    football team in violation of NCAA rules.
